Grammy Award nominated soul singer Angie Stone continues to be ‘fearless’ in her partnership with F.A.C.E. Diabetes this year. Stone, a spokeswoman for the organization which stands for Fearless African-Americans Connected and Empowered (F.A.C.E.) will stop by an event in Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend in an effort to encourage African-Americans with diabetes to take control and learn how to better manage their disease. “I’m excited to be here in Lilly’s hometown to share my story, which I hope can inspire African-Americans, like me, who are living with diabetes,”said Stone who will attend the event hosted by Eli Lilly and Company, corporate contributors including Bayer Diabetes and numerous healthcare and community-based partners. “After you’re diagnosed, I personally know how hard it can beto face your diabetes. That’s why I hope everyone comes out to the F.A.C.E. Diabetes events to learn about some of the resources available in Indianapolis and join the movement to fearlessly face diabetes together.” Supported by Eli Lilly and Company, and national and local health advocacy organizations, the F.A.C.E. Diabetes campaign implements a series of practical and sustainable programs, which foster behavioral and attitudinal changes in areas critical to success in managing diabetes such as nutrition/cooking, physical activity, health and overall well-being. In November, just in time for the holidays, Stone and the F.A.C.E. Diabetes campaign will return to Indianapolis to host healthy cooking demonstrations with the Hebni Chefs, the creators of the Soul Food Pyramid,to promote nutrition and healthy eating habits among those living with andsuccessfully managing diabetes.
