Sacramento artist Victoria Monét revisits her 2014 Nightmares & Lullabies: Act I to being forth the visual for “Backyard,” a dark, trendy clip about those on the fringes of society.
Surrounded by eccentric individuals, Monet rallies with them to be heard. “I’ve always been drawn to wilderness partially due to its magic and because there are less rules,” Monét explained to TeenVOGUE, who premiered the video. “This song is the anthem for those who have big dreams, those underdogs who have something to prove not only to other people but to themselves. I wrote this song for the tribe… we gotta let people know we are coming!”
