Tyrese will go out on a high note if his retirement from creating solo albums is factual.
The veteran R&B singer earned his first Billboard 200 No. 1 with his latest album, Black Rose. This feat comes 17 years after the "Lately" hitmaker made his chart debut.
According to Billboard, the set sold 86,000 (83,000 in pure album sales) units for the week ending July 16 for the chart dated Aug.1. Black Rose was released July 10 on Tyrese's own Voltron Recordz label, through Capitol Music Group's independent services division Caroline.
Tyrese first debuted on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart in 1998 with the single, “Nobody Else.”
Black Rose also surpasses the first-week sales of Tyrese's last album, 2011's Open Invitation, which started with 76,000 copies.
