R&B singer Deborah Cox, who broke onto the scene with the hit “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here,” is set to release her first studio album in over six years. Cox, who inked a new deal with Deco Recording group, has teamed up with John Legend, the Avila Brothers, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to release “The Promise,” a follow up to 2002’s “The Morning After” in November. Led by the single “Did You Ever Love Me?,” produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, the poignant, soulful slow-burning R&B song is a reflection on a relationship that has just ended. Happy to return to the world of R&B under her own terms Cox says “The R&B fans were the first to embrace me and help me get to where I am today.” “I have been fortunate enough to be able to explore other genres of music, but I really missed doing R&B and thought it was time to return to it.” Some of the tracks to be featured on the album include “Beautiful U R,” “The Promise” and âAll Over Me,â which Cox describes as a very sexy song. “I think it will surprise people because it explores a level of sensuality that Iâve never expressed in a song before.” Deborah Cox’s “Did You Ever Love Me?” is available now through online retailers such as iTunes. “The Promise” is slated to hit stores in November.
