From Fox’s hit show “Empire,” cast members Jussie Smollett, Yazz, and Serayah McNeill performed at the 2015 BET Awards. The three performed a medley of songs from the Empire Soundtrack: “No Apologies,” “Drip Drop” and “You’re So Beautiful.”
Juicy J made a surprise appearance on Yazz’s “Drip Drop,” and in the middle of Jussie’s performance of “You’re So Beautiful,” he took time to address the recent major social events, including the nationwide legalization of gay marriage and violence against people of color.
He said, “We live in a nation where freedom is what we represent, yet we are still fighting every day for the basic freedoms of all of our people,” he said. “Let the Supreme Court ruling be proof of how far we have come. Let the deaths of sisters and brothers be proof of how far we have to go. No one is free until we are all free.”
The second season of “Empire” will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
