The always-innovative Bilal is prepping a new album In Another Life for June 30, and “Satellites” is the first single, an artistic take on the social commentary of police brutality.
The clip shows Bilal as a being from another world who's been dropped down to Earth. He then observes and helps those around him, only to be attacked unprovoked by two men in uniform.
The lyrics express Bilal’s confusion surrounding said events: “Just another day in another life, on the satellite / Watching the world watch people as they do what they do to people / So what could we do and how did this happen? / Cuz it’s not what I remember, when I left you from the other time.”
