August Alsina has been through a lot in his young, 22-year-old life…from poverty, to losing his older brother, to the grind of becoming a R&B star, to suffering seizures last year, to now another hurdle to overcome…losing his vision.
Yesterday (May 15), August revealed to followers that he's suffering from vision problems. In an Instagram caption along with the picture above, he wrote, "So I have this eye disease.. Blind in my left, and losing vision in my right. In order to prevent my eyesight from deteriorating I had to do this surgery." The photo shows the singer with his eyelids peeled back while a laser beams into them in a type of optic operation.
It's sad to hear this news, but with all Alsina has been through, it seems he's taking it in stride. "This s**t is beyond painful & Life be throwin' a n***a curve balls but what I've gained from it all is priceless," he wrote.
He ended the post with an important reminder; never take for granted all that life has to offer. "A lot of things that are so natural to us in life (like waking up and being able to see) we can take it for granted," he wrote. "Thank God the OG for allowing me to see.. The good the bad the ugly, I'm just glad to see."
