Pharrell was made for GQ Magazine; not even one year after he last covered the men’s magazine (in April 2014), he’s bringing his fresh, quirky style and hip persona once again to the front page of the February 2015 issue.
In the cover story, the hitmaker is STILL talking about his hit “Happy” and the impact it made around the world, along with the lackluster reception from T.I.’s latest album Paperwork, on which he contributed. "They did that record hoping for radio play, and they got nothing out of it," he said. "Great, you got your No. 1 hip hop song. But what does that do for your sales?… Go ahead. Blend in. But we want to be that twinkle in the sky. And you might not be able to see that star now. But it's daytime. Wait till it gets dark,” he said.
He may be frustrated with that record, but all the more reason to harvest excitement for another: he revealed he and Big Sean have a mean record coming out: "Iit's haaaaard. It's like ghost-of-Shaka-Zulu hard!" he explained.
The February 2015 issue of GQ arrived in New York and L.A. today (Jan 20), and will show up on newsstands nationwide on Jan. 27.
