Just six weeks after waking up from a 3-day coma, August Alsina is back on the grind!
The Def Jam recording artist and New Orleans crooner make a staple return with an official music video for "Grindin," directed by Payne Lindsey and produced by Knucklehead.
“A lot of these lames kept hatin’ on a nigga, when I took a little fall you was steppin on a nigga” he sings on the track.
He went on to say, “I just got out of a coma, it showed me that when God is for me, no weapon can hold me. That’s why I go hard for N.O. and my homies, and I pay homage to nigga before me."
Some time ago, the news went viral that while headlining his first tour, 'Testimony Live', after 18 consecutive sold out shows, the singer collapsed and fell off stage as he performed his hit single "Numb". This past week, August hit the stage with Yo Gotti, Lil Boosie, and Rick Ross to perform several shows.
"I literally almost worked myself to death, so I was nervous to get back on that stage," the singer says. "I didn't know what to expect. I took it easy and got stronger and more confident with each show. The people welcomed me back and gave me energy."
Alsina is scheduled to step foot on his biggest stage yet, joining R&B superstar Usher on his North American tour, 'The UR Experience'. While the two recently hung out, August took to Instagram saying:
“I'm a student to da game, learning from Legends how to Take Over & own the game but more importantly STAY in the game”
With three national tours and a debut album in less than a year, you can definitely say that the New Orleans native is “Grindin.”
