2014 is Keke Palmer's year!
After becoming the youngest talk show host in history at the tender age of 20 for the short-lived BET show Just Keke, Palmer has also conquered another first: becoming the first black Cinderella on Broadway's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.
Last night (Sept 9), marked opening night of the show featuring Keke as the lead character, and the now-21-year-old singer/actress became overwhelmed with emotions during the curtain call.
In an Instagram post, Keke took the time to share her thoughts and emotions with her legion of followers:
"thank you to all my loved ones for my flowers, texts and emails of support! My dressing room is beautiful because of YOU! I had such an overwhelmingly thrilling debut night. Broadway .. Wow. God is so good, I am so grateful to the The Lord for using me in such a way that I can freely express his love through my passion. Tonight, my career, my LIFE, is a testament to the power of love; of God’s light! When you embrace him and who you are, when you spread love and kindness, when you stay consistent in your sincerity .. There’s NOTHING you can not do. Nothing is easy, it will be difficult. But understand you are not alone, we are all together. thankful to all of those that made it to the show tonight and I love all of those that were praying for me where they were."
Sherri Shepherd also joined the cast as Madame, Cinderella's evil Stepmother. Keke and Sherri's Broadway run will last until Jan 3. Visit cinderellaonbroadway.com for more details.
