Columbia Recording artist Mishon premieres the music video to “Legal Tender,” a track from his Valentine's Day released EP, The Gift.
The powerful visual explores the life of a struggling young girl, which sees her giving up on family and love for a haunting life of paper chasing. She goes through stages of domestic violence and prostitution for worldly and material possessions.
Based on a true story, “Legal Tender” gives viewers a realistic depiction of what goes on in the lives of many young women. Although it exposes the dangers of prostitution as well as domestic violence, it also sheds light to a promising future where young girls can achieve success and true love if they veer away from a dangerous lifestyle.
“I feel like this is what’s needed right now. I went through this situation with my ex so this song has always been special to me,” states Mishon. “After we separated she chose the fast life and lost who she was. I did this song a year ago and with the events taking place in Nigeria (#bringbackourgirls) and seeing some these young girls in U.S. choosing a fast life style; I decided to put a visual to the song. Hopefully, if at least one person sees this and it changes their life for the better, then I’ve done my job.”
