Just a few years ago Mariah Carey was feted with the Artist of the Millennium Award at the World Music Awards in Monaco. Later this month the "Betcha Gon Know" singer will be given an even better honor in the form of an Icon Award.
World Music Award organizers broke the news recently, not only confirming the award, but that Carey would be performing during the ceremony taking place May 27 in Monaco.
"Mariah Carey will receive an Icon Award for having sold over 200 million records and having more No.1 singles in America than any other Solo Act," organizers report.
News of Carey's upcoming honor and performance come just as she prepares for the release of her new album, "Me. I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse."
The album drops May 27.
