R&B singer Usher is ready for the 2008 Presidential Election. The âMoving Mountainsâ singer recently kicked off a voter registration campaign in association with his New Look Foundation. Partnering with civil rights activist Rev. Joseph Lowery, Usherâs New Look Camp launched âI Canât but-U-Can,â a voter registration campaign aimed at youngsters who cannot vote. According to Atlantaâs Action News, most of the participants in Usher’s annual two-week New Look foundation summer camp are too young to vote, which is why the voter registration effort is titled “I Can’t but U-Can.” However, the R&B superstar is hoping his roster of campers will encourage their parents, older siblings, and others to register to vote because the campers’ futures are at stake, too. “It affects everything from the campers’ education to economic future,” said Shawn Wilson, president of Usher’s New Look foundation. Several community organizations across metro Atlanta, including the Lite House, Hank Stewart Foundation, SCLC Women and the Future Foundation, have committed to hosting registration drives as part of the “I Can’t but U-Can” initiative.
