Former American Idol contestants battle again but this time is not for the praise of Simon, Paula and Randy, but the contest is still determined by the public. Jessica Sanchez and Candice Glover meet at the top of Singersroom’s weekly chart of the Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week.
Jessica Sanchez earned the lead position on the list as she entertained and helped provide relief for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The single “Lead Me Home” hit close to home for Sanchez as the Philippines is her mother’s native country. The young songstress has raised awareness and donations throughout this week with performance on Saturday she will greet viewers of the Manny Pacquiao and Brandon Rios fight with a performance of the national anthem of the U.S. and the Philippines.
Candice Glover picked the right record to accentuate her powerhouse vocals; “Cried” is a brawn ballad placing Glover one notch below Sanchez on the chart of the Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week. Ms. Glover lets out every drip of emotion baggage concerning a less-than-great relationship. The song is the second single from debut album, Music Speaks; it is tentatively scheduled for release in February of 2014.
The remaining artists that converged on this hot records chart is a mixed list of veterans, emerging stars and newcomers that include R. Kelly, K. Michelle, Jordin Sparks, Solange, Prince, Kristal Lyndriette, Nivea and Mariah Carey.
