R&B star John Legend and Harry Belafonte are featured in the History Channelâs upcoming special “King” airing this Sunday, April 6th at 8pm/7ct. Marking the 40th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at age 39, newsman Tom Brokaw, examines the life of the legend, the questions, the myths and the relevance of Dr. Kingâs message in todayâs world according to Nancy Dubuc, Executive Vice President and General Manager of History. In addition to Legend and Belafonte, Former President Bill Clinton, Forest Whitaker, U2’s Bono, and Chuck D each weigh in during the two hour event. In a rare television appearance, Dr. Kingâs son Martin Luther King III also shares his memories and thoughts about his father. Following “King”, John Legend joins Fantasia, Snoop Dogg, and Mariah Carey for American Idolâs “Idol Gives Back” concert airing Wednesday, April 9th at 7:30pm ET. Legend is expected to perform his hit “Show Me” and “Falling”with Fergie. “Idol Gives Back” will benefit various US and International Charities including The Global Fund to Fight Aids, and the Childrenâs Defense Fund.
