After plans for the first official R&B Hall of Fame museum was announced earlier this week, a list of top singers who have made significant contributions to the genre has been revealed.

Leading the way are the late Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, who both will be immortalized with inductions. Alongside the King of Pop and Houston, the ‘Hall of Fame Class of 2013’ list contains 23 other inductees including R&B Legends like James Brown, Otis Redding, The Temptations, The O’Jays, Gerald Levert and Aretha Franklin.

Reverend Al Sharpton will also be honored with the Ron Banks Humanitarian Award for his support of soul and R&B artists, including his mentor James Brown.

A special induction ceremony will take place on May 5, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio.

As far as the museum, construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2013, which gives organizers enough time to find the “right location.”

The Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame is honoring some of the biggest names in music with its first ever class of inductees. The inaugural list includes Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and more iconic figures from the genre. Fans all over the world are celebrating these incredible artists for their contributions to R&B music.

This induction ceremony will recognize a wide range of R&B legends, including singers, songwriters, producers, DJs, and others who have made an impact on the industry. Each artist has had a unique influence on this beloved style of music throughout history. From groundbreaking albums to chart-topping singles, they’ve left behind legacies that continue to inspire new generations.

So what makes these musicians so special? This article takes a closer look at how each inductee has contributed to R&B culture and why they deserve our recognition as we kick off the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame’s very first year!

Honorees Of The R&B Hall Of Fame

The Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame has announced its first set of inductees, recognizing some of the most influential artists in music. These honorees include icons like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and James Brown.

These three superstars have each left an indelible mark on the R&B genre. Their songs are still widely celebrated to this day, with many covers or remixes being released regularly. From Jackson’s groundbreaking Thriller album to Brown’s timeless hit “I Feel Good” and Houston’s powerful rendition of “I Will Always Love You”, these musicians have all contributed greatly to the culture of their respective genres.

This is only the beginning for the R&B Hall of Fame as they plan to recognize even more notable figures over time. The organization has stated that they want to honor those who have made a significant impact on rhythm and blues music throughout history, from classic legends like Marvin Gaye to modern-day stars such as Bruno Mars. It will be exciting to see which other names join these esteemed list of inaugural inductees in years to come.

Criteria For Selection

To be selected for the R&B Hall of Fame, artists must have made an impact on the genre in some capacity. This could mean chart-topping hits, album sales records, or a patented sound that has left its mark on music history. The selection process also takes into account awards and honors received from industry peers as well as critical reception from fans and critics alike.

The Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame committee is committed to recognizing not only legends who are no longer with us but up-and-coming talent too. As such, they’re looking to spotlight both veterans and fresh faces that have helped shape modern rhythm and blues culture over time. It’s important to note that anyone is eligible for consideration regardless of their age or career status – all it requires is a legacy worthy of being immortalized by the R&B Hall of Fame.

With this first set of inductees, the organization has sent a powerful statement about which musicians will always remain at the heart of R&B: those whose influence spans generations and continues to shape our musical landscape today.

Conclusion

The R&B Hall of Fame has made its inaugural induction, and it is a star-studded lineup. Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston are two of the most beloved musical icons in history, and their selection as the first inductees to this prestigious honor confirms what we already knew: that they have each left an indelible mark on music culture throughout the world.

In addition to these legends, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, The Temptations and Earth Wind & Fire were also recognized for their immense influence in shaping the ever-evolving genre of rhythm and blues. It’s clear that this hall of fame takes its criteria seriously; you can be sure that only those who have truly earned recognition will make it onto its list of honorees.

What began as a soulful blend of gospel music and jazz now boasts some of the biggest names in Pop culture today — all thanks to the dedication and brilliance from these pioneering musicians. I’m proud to see them receive such due respect for their contribution to our lives through music. Congratulations to all!
