Marcus Canty Readies EP Release, Looks To Timeless R&B

“X Factor USA” finalist Marcus Canty is coming up on his first release, a seven track EP.

Breaking the news in a recent interview, Canty says the effort is filled with R&B and inspiration from timeless 90s era R&B music.

“I feel like I’m what R&B is missing. It’s timeless music and geared towards the ladies. Not to make you feel like hey I want to take you to the bed but (to) make the ladies feel special again,” Canty tells Myspace Music.

Due in October, Canty’s EP has been given the apt title “This… Is Marcus Canty” and features the rising single “In & Out.”

Fresh off the premiere of the video for “In & Out,” Canty says he handpicked fellow DMV based artist Wale because he thought Wale would take the song to another level.

“It was a smash but I felt like Wale being from the same area and you know his buzz and his skills, and his ability on my record would take it to the next level and bring more fans that I may wouldn’t have reached if he wasn’t on the record too,” says Canty. “I want my music to reach all my fans. That was the key for putting him on the record and hometown gotta stick together because there aren’t too many people coming out of DC.”
