Sparkle star Jordin Sparks uplifted patients and their families with a special performance at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the organization’s 50th anniversary on Friday (June 22). She performed a hour and half for patients battling cancer and other life threatening diseases. The appearance was the longest set she has done on stage in more than a year.
“I had a great time performing 4 @StJude patients & their families, thanks 2 @Target. What an inspiring group of kids!” stated Sparks.
Sparks has often lent her voice to philanthropic causes; in the past she participated as a Vh1 Save the Music Ambassador, the Do Something 101 campaign, and a spokesperson for the “I’m M.A.D, Are You?” campaign.
Sparks will appear on the big screen in Sparkle on August 17th, 2012.
Jordin Sparks has done it again! The singer and actress recently helped St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital celebrate its 50th anniversary, an incredible milestone for such a beloved institution. For over five decades, this hospital has been dedicated to providing cutting-edge care and groundbreaking research – free of charge – to children battling cancer and other deadly diseases. And with her help, they marked the occasion in style!
The celebration brought together many special guests who have all worked hard to make sure that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food during their stay at the facility. This includes Jordin Spark’s own mother Jodi Phillips-Sparks, who is one of the founders of Believe & Inspire – an organization that raises money through music events for pediatric oncology programs across America.
It was clear from the day’s festivities how much respect and admiration people had for St. Jude, as well as just how lucky we are to have them here helping those in need when so many times our healthcare system fails us. With Sparks’ support, hopefully even more progress can be made towards finding cures for childhood cancers and other life-threatening illnesses.
