The 25th Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards will honor legendary musician and business man Quincy Jones with the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award. The recognition is bestowed to songwriters and composers who made pioneering contributions and possess creative genius. Jones will join an exclusive list of individuals including Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Berry Gordy Jr, Steely Dan, amongst others.
“Quincy Jones’s contributions to the history of American music are immeasurable. With over 50 years experience working with the biggest names in music and in nearly every genre, he is easily one of the most influential figures in music history,” said ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams.
In Mr. Jones’ fifty years in entertainment, he received 79 Grammy Award nominations, 27 Grammys awards, a Jan Hersholt Humanitarian Award and 7 Oscar nominations. On top of that, he produced ‘Thriller,’ the best-selling album of all time.
On Friday June 29th, 2012 in Los Angeles Quincy Jones will honored as a musical innovator.
