Hit-maker Terius “The Dream” Nash’s “Kill the Lights” U.S Tour is in the midst of wrapping up. The singer/producer has three albums and has written a slew of hits for the likes of Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Usher. But despite his monumental success, the Kill the Lights Tour takes on a more intimate feel, with smaller venues and fewer dates. As the tour is funded with the singer’s own money, he told The Boombox, “I’m blessed to be able to come out here, be on the road and lose money…to come out here and perform for people who love my music.”
The Dream also attributes the lack of tour publicity due to a newer form of media—blogs, stating, “The new school of journalism is about blogs, right?”As soon as the new guy gets on, then they make him look stupid too. There’s no unity in that case. No one’s going to show up and write, ‘This was a good show to go to.’ The journalists don’t understand how they’re affected also, because its bull— to read. Nobody wants to read it.”
During a few of last month’s shows, the triple-threat performer addressed the similarities of new artists to himself, specifically those who have come out during his hiatus. These artists are never referenced by name, but Dream suggests that many new artists have entered the business with a sound and style similar to his own. The artist in question is The Weeknd, whose soft crooning is reminiscent of The Dream’s sound. Both artists recently took to the celebrity boxing ring where all beefs take place, (Twitter), but maintained the hush on names.
“I wasn’t the first one to address that,” he declares. “Evidently the world wants to know. Somebody said, ‘There’s a lot of Dream activity going on but Dream ain’t out,’ so I decided to say, ‘Let’s see if there’s a lot of Dream activity. I’ma cast this net out, and we’re going to see if Dream activity is going on.’ And certain people felt a way so, what does that say?”
But the “Rockin That Thang” singer’s success of the past five years is reason enough to avoid beefs with other artists. He says, “I would never stand in the way of anybody else’s [success] and I know where I am. We’re not in the time of chivalry where we can say, ‘This guy, I actually really enjoy his music and this is a part of where I came from.’ [They’re] going to act like they have no idea. That would be me acting like I don’t know who R. Kelly is. C’mon man, like really?”
His point is to bring awareness to artists who don’t acknowledge those they are influenced by, but he also blames the media for reporting twisted versions of his interviews and words, saying, “When you leave out the context, sometimes it can be a light conversation and then you know, the new school journalists just write it. It’s never an explanation behind the context. They’ll just leave it out there and then I have to go and clean it up.”
The Dream is preparing for his upcoming album called Love IV. The last leg of the Kill the Lights tour wraps up on these dates:
April 12 â Ft. Lauderdale FL at the Revolution
April 13 â Orlando, FL at The Beacham
April 14 â Tallahassee, FL at The Coliseum.
R&B singer-songwriter The-Dream is making a big splash on the music scene with his new “Kill the Lights” tour. He’s also been in the news lately for his ongoing beef with fellow R&B star, The Weeknd. But it’s not just mainstream media outlets taking notice; blog journalism has also taken up reporting about The-Dream and his career. This article will delve into these events and how they impact both The-Dream’s life and modern blogging culture.
The-Dream burst onto the music scene in 2007 when he signed to Def Jam Recordings as an artist, producer, and songwriter. After releasing three albums under this label, he moved over to Radio Killa Records where he released two more albums. His latest album, Ménage à Trois: Sextape Vol 1., 2., 3., was released last year to critical acclaim. With such success in tow, it makes sense that The-Dream would be touring across North America for his Kill the Lights tour.
Unfortunately for him (and fans of both artists), tensions have flared between him and fellow R&B crooner The Weeknd throughout 2019 due to some heated words exchanged via Twitter and other social media platforms. This isn’t a traditional conflict however – It’s being reported by many popular blogs covering entertainment news who are watching keenly for any updates or changes in the situation between these two stars. That brings us to our topic today – what exactly is going on between them? How does blog journalism shape our understanding of this clash? We’ll explore those questions here now!
Overview Of The-Dream’s Career
The-Dream has been a major figure in the music industry for over a decade. He’s had an astounding career, writing and producing hit songs for some of the most successful artists, such as Rihanna and Beyoncé. His expansive discography includes five solo albums, two EPs, and countless singles.
Recently, The-Dream announced his upcoming ‘Kill the Lights’ tour which is set to take place this fall. This marks his first solo tour since 2013 when he embarked on a joint venture with Jay-Z entitled Legends Of Summer Tour. Fans are especially excited due to the fact that this will be their chance to hear him perform many of his classic hits live.
In addition to touring, The Dream has also found himself caught up in controversy lately following accusations from fellow artist The Weeknd that he plagiarized one of his songs. Despite these claims being proven untrue there was still a lot of media attention surrounding it which generated much debate regarding copyright law within the music industry. It seems evident that even after all these years The Dream can still remain relevant and at the center of popular culture’s conversations.
Analysis Of “Kill The Lights” Tour And Disagreement With The Weeknd
The-Dream’s upcoming tour is sure to be a highlight of the fall season, as fans eagerly await their chance to see him perform live. The show promises to feature all his classic hits, as well as new tracks from his recently released EP ‘Love You To Death’. With such an extensive back catalog of music, there will be something for everyone at this exciting event.
As for The Dream’s disagreement with The Weeknd over copyright claims, it seems that the situation has been resolved and both parties have moved on. However, these type of disputes are becoming increasingly common in today’s digital age where ideas can easily be shared and copied without proper credit given. It serves as a reminder of how important it is to protect one’s work so they receive recognition and gain financial compensation when necessary.
Blog journalism plays a big role in disseminating information about musicians like The-Dream, but unfortunately much of what gets reported isn’t always accurate or fair. This puts artists in difficult positions since gossip and speculation often take precedence over facts which can lead to damaging reputations if not addressed quickly by those involved. Thus, it is essential that we remain critical consumers when reading entertainment news so that we don’t succumb to sensationalist coverage which may distort reality.
Conclusion
In conclusion, The-Dream has had a successful career since he first stepped into the music industry. His “Kill the Lights” tour was an exciting opportunity to experience his unique sound and energy live on stage. Despite having a disagreement with fellow Canadian artist, The Weeknd, this did not stop him from putting on an amazing show.
The-Dream’s passion for music is evident in all of his work, making it no surprise that he continues to inspire new generations of artists today. He also paved the way for blog journalism by becoming one of the first artists to utilize social media platforms as part of their promotional strategy. This type of marketing has become increasingly popular amongst musicians, proving just how influential The-Dream truly is.
Overall, The-Dream has left quite an impressive mark in music history and will continue to do so for years to come. From his tours to releasing chart topping singles, there is no denying that he is one of the most talented artists out there today.
