While she is happy to be an aunt, Solange Knowles says she learned so much while Beyonce was pregnant with Blue Ivy. Admitting the pregnancy really showed the ugly side of fame, Solange says she’d much rather be where she is, than become a mega star like her sister.
“She was and is such a role model, but I think more so it was an insane learning process for me to have a big sister like that â to be able to see the good, the bad and everything in between that comes with fame and success, and to know what I was getting myself into,” Solange says in the latest issue of Rolla Coaster. “But I really enjoy my privacy and being able to walk my son to school every morning and pick him up every afternoon.”
According Solange, there is no way that could be done if she was Beyonce.
“I know that I couldn’t do that if I was at the next level â privacy, as you know, it just doesn’t belong to you anymore. I definitely made a conscious effort to stay as low key as I can and still do what I want to do,” says Solange.
As previously reported, Solange addressed media speculation surrounding Beyonce’s birth in January. Having enough of claims that Beyonce had a surrogate, among other things, Solange told everyone to back off.
“It has really gotten out of hand. I’ve been doing my best at keeping my mouth shut….but the ignorance is really sad and upsetting. We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on, and ridiculed. It is one of THE hardest things to accept,” Solange said in January. “In any other workplace if someone directly tells you your mother or sister is a liar and a fake etc…you would naturally express yourself. However, the pure happiness and joy I’ve witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut.”
Beyonce gave birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, January 7.
