Singer/Songwriter Solange Knowles, the younger sister of Beyonce Knowles, has signed a worldwide co-publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing, the company has announced. The 21-year-old Houston native has written or co-written songs for several artists under her father Mathew Knowlesâ Music World Entertainment stable, including Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and Beyoncé. Solange penned Beyonceâs “Get Me Bodied,” “Upgrade U” and “Flaws and All” from her multi-platinum selling album, âB’Day.â “Solange first came to our attention four years ago when her father and manager, Mathew Knowles, pointed her out to me,” said EMI executive, Big Jon Platt. “Immediately I knew something was there, that special quality that’s hard to define, but one that you can’t miss. Since then, we have come to know her as a songwriter of remarkable versatility and steady determination. She is a true professional and someone with a long and exciting career ahead of her.” Solange is currently in the studio working on her second album, âSolange & The Hadley Street Dreams,â featuring tracks all co-written by Knowles, with guest rhymes courtesy of Q-Tip and Bilal.
