After five years, R. City, known to some as Rock City, was released from their recording contract with Akon’s Konvict Records. The group launched a public campaign dubbed PTFAO (Put the F**king Album Out) to appeal their business relationship because their debut album on Konvict was not given a release. After two years in seeking options to dissolve their recording contract, Akon offered the group an opportunity to remain with the label and work towards dropping an album or being released from their contract. The group opted for the latter and exited Konvict.
While R. City struggled to free themselves from their record deal, the group wrote and produced songs for Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson (Grammy nominated), R. Kelly and Akon.
Now that R. City has been released from Konvict Records, the duo will release their debut album “Free At Last,” on their record label, Rebelution Records.
