Motown legend Marvin Gaye’s legacy has been given a new home with a feature exhibit at the Motown museum in Detroit, Michigan. The exhibit will offer fans an opportunity to view a collection of the prince of soul’s gold records, photographs and other rarely seen items from the museum’s off-site permanent collection.
The CEO of Motown Historical Museum, Audley Smith said, “This exhibit continues the Museum’s goal of highlighting all of the wonderful talent that made the Motown Sound the sound of young America.”
Gaye’s career was cut short after being shot by his father shot on April 1, 1984. Before he passed away, he influenced and impacted the slow jam, quiet storm and urban adult contemporary genres with over twenty singles that landed in the top 10.
