Prior to joining Maroon 5, Jesse studied at UCLA. There he met future bandmates Adam Levine and Mickey Madden. Together they formed Kara's Flowers, later known as Maroon 5.

In 2012, Jesse left Maroon 5 to do solo stuff. But two years later, he rejoined the band.
