Mathew and Tina Knowles, the successful parents behind Grammy-winning singer Beyonce Knowles and award-nominated artist Solange Knowles, say their divorce is very much real but ‘amicable’. “The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners,” the Knowles said in a statement issued through the Associated Press late Friday. News broke of the couple’s divorce filing early Friday, December 18 after a reported 29 years of marriage. According to documents posted online, Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, began divorce proceedings November 11 in Harris County, Texas. While the divorce has caught the attention of most blogs and entertainment sources worldwide, with some emphasis plus alleged infidelity in the marriage, the Knowles say their divorce will not end up being “messy”. “If anyone is expecting an ugly messy fight, they will be sadly disappointed. We ask for your respect of our privacy as we handle this matter.” As previously reported, the divorce comes just over a month after Mathew Knowles was named in a paternity suit. Los Angeles based actress Alexsandra Wright claimed Knowles was the father of her unborn child in the lawsuit. While the couple is making their way through divorce court, it appears that they will continue to play integral roles in the careers of their daughters Beyonce and Solange. As noted over the years, Mathew Knowles has long managed the careers of both of his daughters after leaving IBM to launch Destiny’s Child. Tina Knowles, business savvy as well, has long styled her daughter and cohorts Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams in Destiny’s Child. She also plays an integral role in the apparel line House of Dereon.
