Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil Wayne plead guilty to felony gun possession in a Manhattan courtroom Thursday. The “Get Money” rapper, staring down charges from a 2007 arrest following a concert at New York City’s Beacon Theater, told a judge “yes” when asked if he understood the fact that at least eight months of his life would be spent behind bars. As previously reported on Singersroom, Lil Wayne was arrested when officers pulled his tour bus over, finding a .40 caliber semi-automatic weapon in July of 2007. Attending a hearing early Thursday morning, Lil Wayne was joined by Cash Money Records’ Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams. While the rapper’s plea deal is officially on the books, he will not be sentenced until February of 2010. At that point an official term, possibly eight to ten months, will be ordered. At press time the rapper had not released a statement regarding the case and his decision to plead guilty.
