Grammy-nominated soul singer Ledisi is striking out with yet another soulful album. This time however, the “Goin’ Thru Changes” singer says she’s switched things up a bit, grabbed a few different producers and has even taken a liking to incorporating rock, jazz and Hip-Hop elements. Titled “Turn Me Loose,” Ledisi says the effort is about “being free and encompassing everything (I listen to) — from hip-hop to rock and jazz.” Opening up to new producers, something she admits was a little difficult at first, Ledisi laments and tells Reuters “They remind you that you’re not just one way — you’re this way and that way too.” Led by the single “Goin’ Thru Changes,” a follow up to the well received “Alright” and “In The Morning,” “Turn Me Loose” finds the singer vibing with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Raphael Saadiq, Chucky Thompson and Rex Rideout. In related news, Ledisi’s “Goin’ Thru Changes” is climbing the Urban AC chart. Up two spots from last week, the single sits at no. 22, just above Jennifer Hudson’s “Giving Myself” and Chico DeBarge’s “Oh No”. “Turn Me Loose” is available in stores and at digital retail now.
