The at once anticipated Vienna-based tribute to late King of Pop, Micheal Jackson set to be rescheduled and relocated in 2010 has officially been canceled ! Sources say the event’s organizer, World Awards Media GmbH, closed down November 30 and has since been liquidated, making it impossible for original plans described by Jackson’s brother, Jermaine, to move forward. “The company cannot sign any new contracts and will certainly not plan any new events,” Martin Schneider, liquidator for the organizers, told Reuters Friday. At one point the highly publicized tribute was to feature performances from Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown and Natalie. Each of those acts dismissed claims that they were involved. The concert would have taken place at a 17th century palace. After its cancellation it was rumored that London’s popular O2 Arena, where Jackson was to perform over fifty dates on his expected ‘This Is It’ concert series, would host a tribute in 2010. Jermaine Jackson, nor parties close to him, have issued a statement regarding news of World Awards Media GmbH’s closure and liquidation.
