Bell Biv DeVoe (Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ron DeVoe) are gearing up for the release of their forthcoming album, Three Stripes ≡, headed by the 90s throwback-sounding single “Run” and their SWV-collab “Finally.”
Three Stripes ≡ is scheduled for a January 27th release (a day after the third and final part of the three-night BET mini-series “The New Edition Story”). But despite New Edition’s shine with the movie, BBD sat down with Music Choice to explain why New Edition as a whole isn’t releasing an album right now.
Ricky Bell explains: “What made us release a Bell Biv DeVoe album as opposed to a New Edition album, especially after the movie? Our intent was to release another New Edition album along with the tour and the whole big splash campaign and all of that and just like how we formed Bell Biv DeVoe because other members wanted to do something else is the same reason why we’re releasing a BBD album and not a New Edition album at this time.”
