Cee-Lo presents Swagu Style House, a unique, multi-talented group from Atlanta, who would like to be added to the list of musical pioneers such as Outkast and Cee-Lo himself. Swagu Style House presents an ingenious sound to music that will bring back melodic, positive, ageless music. The group’s primary goal is to “make music that has an immortal and universal positive effect.”
Swagu Style House is currently promoting their single “Pick It Up,” getting ready to release their mixtape Shazam, and traveling around the world.
Singersoom chatted with the up-and-coming group about their name, Cee-Lo, growing up in the “A,” and so much more.

Coming Up With the Group Name:
Stranger: We wanted to come up with a name that would really be different from the rest. We were exploring different names because I view the group as a wide range of talent and we came up with Swagu Style House.
Stage Names:
Deep: I came up with my name because that’s who I am as a person. I am constantly deep because that’s what I prefer to be all the time. It causes people to think all around and deepen their thought process.
Medulla: I’ve always been interested in the body and how it works. And so when I think of the Medulla, it plays a big role in the brain. You need it for your circulation and your basic functioning.
Stranger: Until you know me, I am a stranger. I am different.
Launching A Music Career:
Stranger: Our families have known each other for a long time, so we were always around music. We realized that we wanted to take our music career more seriously. We decided to come together and make it happen.
Influenced by the Atlanta Sound:
Deep: We were inspired by the Atlanta sound, most definitely. We just love and appreciate that old school sound. We love everything from 90’s music scene, Ray Charles, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Sammy Sam, just different artists.
Working with Cee-Lo Green:
Stranger: Like I said before, our families have known each other for a long time, so music just fell through for us. We would observe his everyday moves in the studio. But when it was time to do our music, he will like the record, but also critique it at the same time.
Medulla and Deep: We want our music to meet his approval. We are aiming for perfection. He would reinforce that you want people to feel what you’re talking about in the music.
Single “Pick It Up”:
Deep: We were in the studio in the Cee-Lo, just trying out different sounds and Cee-Lo listened to a ringtone sound, and then someone’s phone rang. We were “like pick up the phone,” and that was the concept for the song.
Stranger: When we heard the song, we were like “okay, we’re on our way.” It was just phenomenal; it was just surreal at the same time. It’s just exciting because we were able to be ourselves and release real material.
Making Great Music:
Deep: We make music so people can know more about us as a group. It’s like a learning experience for our listeners. The purpose of music is to come up with material that would inspire people and change lives. And that’s what grab people’s attention. We are fortunate to write and produce our own music. We want people to be in tuned with our sound and bring back lively music.
A Piece of Advice for Aspiring Artists:
Stay positive and never give up on your dreams. Never stop dreaming. When you work hard to pursue your dreams, you will never work a day in your life. It’s the truth because you’re doing something you love everyday. It’s your job to keep your dreams alive, don’t let anyone deter you from pursing your goals.
