Ne-Yo is officially off the market. He and girlfriend of approximately two years, model Crystal Renae, tied the knot on Saturday (Feb. 20). (It was assumed that Ne-Yo was officially off the market back in August 2015, but maybe that was just an engagement photo).
According to PEOPLE, the expecting couple wed in a small ceremony at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California in front of close friends and family.
The singer tells PEOPLE he knew when he first met Renae she was the one, saying, “I kind of knew right away,” he says, adding: “From that first encounter, I knew there was something different about her, something special.”
Ne-Yo continued, saying he’s confident this marriage will last. “This is big for me. I’m not doing this again, so I’m happy that my family and friends are able to be there to share this moment with us,” says NE-YO. “We’re human beings, so we’re gonna bump heads on different things, but we’ve agreed that this is gonna be a marriage that lasts.”
He seems confident in the strength of their love, and they’re going to need it because there’s a whole slew of fans who aren’t happy with their relationship. Ne-Yo has been criticized on social media for supposedly leaving his ex-fiancee Monyetta Shaw, with whom he shares two kids with, daughter Maddie, 5, and son Mason, 4. Shaw was a cast member on Atlanta Exes, on which she revealed Ne-Yo suggested she get her tubes tied after not wanting any more children, then broke up with her shortly after, hindering her ability to have more children if she meets someone else.
Ne-Yo replied to the online commenters, “No matter what they say’ our Miracle is on the way, and I couldn’t feel more blessed. Your negativity means nothing to us. We are happy, we’ve BEEN happy and will always be HAPPY no matter what they say.”
The couple’s baby is due very soon. Congrats to the happy couple!
