A posthumous album honoring the late Teddy Pendergrass’ music titled Duets Love & Soul is coming on August 21st, and it will feature all the hits you love from the crooner in duet-style with more of your favorite artists.
Tunes like "Close The Door" and "It Don't Hurt Now" will get the duet makeover, and Angie Stone has added her voice to Teddy P’s classic, “Love TKO.”
Along with vocals from the late crooner, Angie takes a lyrical line here and there, but if you ask me, something is off: whether it’s emotion or the clashing of keys at times, something isn’t meshing. As it turns out, SoulTracks says the song features “an older, less powerful-voiced Pendergrass singing lead," to which I say, if you’re not going to try to get the best recordings, why do it at all?
Other guest appearances on the album include Shuggie Otis, Noora Noor, The Stylistics, Ohio Players, Martha Reeves, Eric Gales and more.
