Did Whitney Houston’s documented vocal struggle lead her to feel inadequate ? Brandy took on the subject, which hasn’t really been discussed since her death, in an interview aired Friday.
While Brandy can’t possibly know what the legendary talent felt in her final days, she says losing your voice, as a recording artist, is traumatic.
“I understand what that feels like. I don’t understand to that degree, but I understand, you know, because I feel like when I don’t have my instrument, I don’t really have — I don’t really have me,” Brandy shared with Piers Morgan (“Piers Morgan Tonight”)
According to Brandy, the voice is who you are, it’s what you are used to sharing…
“Yes, it’s who — it’s almost who you are. Of course, there’s more to you than your voice, but that’s what you use to share. That’s what you use to give. It’s your purpose. It’s what you were born to do,” Brandy says before admitting “Yeah, it probably drove her insane. It probably drove her insane.”
