What did TSA find in Solange's fro ? Nothing, but that was the running joke on Twitter last night when Solange tweeted from an airport.
According to Solange, TSA must have thought she was concealing something in her puff of curls and decided to pat it down to make sure there were no knives, scissors, a spare afro pick or whatever else you could throw in there.
"Discrim-FRO-nation. My hair is not a storage drawer. Although, guess I couuld hide a joint up in here. *Blames "Romnesia" (my wigs name)." Solange tweeted before kicking off a game of "what did TSA find in Solange's Fro ?"
While it's funny now, this is not the first time a woman has been subjected to an afro search. According to CBS Local, a Dallas woman's fro was searched at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport last year.
"Brantley was headed down an escalator at Hartsfield-Jackson International airport in Atlanta, after she was screened a the initial security checkpoint, when she says two TSA agents came after her asking to check her hair for explosives," CBS Local reports. "Brantley says the agents began patting down her large afro in public as she waited on a train platform."
Brantley later complained and the TSA issued this statement:
"Additional screening may be required for clothing, headware or hair where prohibited items could be hidden. This passenger left the checkpoint prior to the completion of the screening process."
All of that said, Solange made it to her flight after having her "Romnesia" searched.
"Ok. Game over:( Flights taking off. Me and my wig had a lot of good laughs with y'all," she tweeted.
