Randy Jackson Parts With 'American Idol' Judging Seat

The "dawg" is out. Randy Jackson is officially moving to the side and giving up his seat on the "American Idol" judging panel.

While he will no longer judge on the hit reality singing competition, TMZ reports Jackson will remain a part of the show.

As speculated for weeks, Jackson will be replaced by a new judge (possibly Nicki Minaj) and mentor hopefuls through various stages of the competition.

Jackson was the only judge remaining from the original three, which included Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, when the series launched in 2002. He is also an executive producer for "Randy Jackson presents America's Best Dance Crew (MTV)."

In related news, a fourth judge is expected to join the series.

Mariah Carey remains the only star confirmed for the panel.
