Rihanna’s father may not have the best choice of words when it comes to his daughter but, are his latest fears legitimate?
In the just released issue of The Sun, Ronald Fenty claims Rihanna is “obsessed” with everything Whitney (Houston) and he prays she does not travel the same road.
“Rihanna was obsessed with everything about Whitney… I pray she doesn’t end up like her,” said Fenty.
The Sun drives Fenty’s point home with a series of photos depicting Rihanna and the late Whitney Houston in similar states of dress and circumstances.
“Both stars grew up in devout Christian communities. Whitney in New Jersey, Rihanna in Barbados and cut their musical teeth singing in their local church. Both had violent relationships with hip-hop bad boys,” The Sun writes. “But like Whitney before her, she wants to be judged as a performer rather than a role model.”
As widely reported last week, Rihanna came under fire for being pictured cutting a substance atop her bodyguard’s head. She later tweeted about that incident claiming “I’m crazy and I don’t pretend to be anything else.”
“Ask God 2 show u what U need 2 change. Accept others 4 who they r and see how God works in u to complete your joy,” she went on to say. “Our happiness is not dependent on whether or not other ppl do what we want them to do.”
She also tweeted “420 on 420,” in reference to the drug.
Rihanna’s neighbor, Trevor Petty, speaking with The Sun, claims Rihanna is simply living “life by her own terms.”
“Robyn’s idols are people who are unapologetic and strong. She lives life by her own terms, and that’s how she is supposed to live it,” said Petty. “She’s just having fun. She is from the islands and you expect her not to like weed? Of course she likes weed. People are going to attach Robyn to Whitney. The fact is Robyn is kind of hardcore. She is going to get even more epic as time goes by. I think she can handle it.”
It’s no surprise that parents worry about their children. But when the child is a successful celebrity, like Rihanna, it can be even more difficult to keep them safe from harm. Fearful for his daughter’s wellbeing, Rihanna’s father has recently expressed concern that she’ll end up like Whitney Houston – one of the most talented singers of all time who tragically passed away at just 48 years old due to drug abuse and addiction. In this article we will explore why her father fears Rihanna may follow in Houston’s footsteps and what he hopes to do to prevent that from happening.
The world was absolutely shocked on February 11th 2012 when news broke out that legendary singer-songwriter, Whitney Houston had suddenly passed away aged 48. With an incredible career spanning decades, rising above adversity with beauty, grace and poise while singing timeless classics such as ‘I Will Always Love You’, Whitney Houston seemed invincible until her death which was attributed to drug use and accidental drowning. Now her legacy lives on through music but also serves as a warning sign for many celebrities including R&B superstar Rihanna whose father is fearful she might end up going down a similar path if he doesn’t step in soon enough.
Rihanna has been very open about some of the struggles she faced during her childhood and adolescence; physical abuse at the hands of Chris Brown followed by bouts of depression after their break-up were both widely reported upon and highlighted how vulnerable young stars are in terms of mental health issues. Despite coming off relatively unscathed compared to other high profile female artists (including Amy Winehouse) before her, there remains fear among family members that if left unchecked these issues could spiral into something much worse. Let us take a closer look at why exactly Rihanna’s father worries she may end up like Whitney Houston and what he plans on doing about it…
Relationship Between Rihanna And Her Father
Rihanna and her father, Ronald Fenty, have had a strained relationship for many years. Despite the tension between them, it’s clear that he loves his daughter deeply. He is worried about her lifestyle in the public eye—especially after seeing what happened to another famous singer, Whitney Houston.
Fenty has spoken out publicly to express his concerns. In an interview with Grazia magazine, he said “I really worry about her sometimes… I don’t want my daughter to end up like Whitney Houston.” His fears stem from the fact that Rihanna lives much of her life in the public eye. With this level of attention comes scrutiny and judgement from fans and critics alike. This can put immense pressure on a person over time, leading to potential issues such as depression or addiction.
Though they may not always agree with each other, at least one thing is certain: Ronald Fenty cares deeply for his daughter’s well-being. He wants only good things for her future—and will do whatever it takes to make sure she achieves those goals while avoiding any pitfalls along the way.
Impact Of Whitney Houston’S Life On Rihanna’s Father
The impact of Whitney Houston’s life has had a deep effect on Rihanna’s father. Ronald Fenty is well aware of the pitfalls that come with fame and fortune, which likely stem from his own experience as an entrepreneur in music production. He witnessed firsthand how Houston’s rise to fame was followed by her eventual downfall due to substance abuse. This tragedy made him determined not to let his daughter become another statistic.
Fenty emphasizes the importance of maintaining good relationships with family, friends and fans—something he believes would have been beneficial for Houston if she had taken this advice more seriously. He hopes that his warnings will be heard loud and clear by Rihanna before it’s too late. After all, prevention is always better than cure.
He also does what he can to keep tabs on his daughter when she goes out into the world alone—though he knows there is only so much he can do from afar. Despite their differences, Fenty loves his daughter unconditionally and wants nothing but success for her career and personal life without any unnecessary suffering along the way.
