“Freedom Ride” may be a taste of the emotional songs Keri Hilson is recording for her third studio album. We won’t jump to conclusion just yet, especially since the new heartfelt track was recorded for the forthcoming ‘Think Like a Man” soundtrack.
Produced and co-written by Jerry Wonda, “Freedom Ride” is about being left stranded after breaking from a lover with the expectation that you will one day get back together.. “We went on a freedom ride, to see what’s on the other side, and promised we would reunite, somebody changed your mind,” Hilson croons.
As for Hilson’s next album, she is just in the beginning stage of recording and she plans ti change things up a bit.
“I’m working on a new sound,” Hilson told The BoomBox. “I just love to challenge myself. My first two albums to me were incredible. They were a moment in time. ‘In A Perfect World’ was very emotional and tapped into how I was feeling at the time. And my last album, ‘No Boys Allowed,’ that’s how I was feeling at the time as well [laughs]. I was being very territorial, very instructional on how to become a man and what we deserved and demanded as women. The new music has kind of both sides: very emotional, but I’ve also gone through some hurt in the past couple of years. I’ll be explaining some things.”
No release date or time frame has been scheduled for the project.
