Today, Grammy-winning R&B singer Chris Brown paid tribute to pop songstress Vanessa Carlton by posting and raving about her classic single, “A Thousand Miles.”
Brown shared the 2001 single on Instagram, insisting, it would be “LIT FOREVER.”
His kind gesture didn’t hold over well with Carlton, who slammed Breezy for his 2009 domestic incident against then-girlfriend Rihanna.
“Being that today is International Women’s Day I feel compelled to draw a line,” she wrote. “I support survivors not perpetrators of domestic violence. I do not want to be associated with an artist that has assaulted women on a day like today.”
If you seen the movie “White Chicks” then you know the song “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton. Chris Brown tried to show love to her & the song but she wasn’t having it because today is International Women’s Day & y’all already know about his dark past with Rihanna pic.twitter.com/ZdIsDqEQsw

To counter, Brown did the best thing possible, he showed Carlton even more love. He reposted her message and added, “was and still is a great song.” He continued, “The artist felt she was doing her duty as a woman to continue to spread this kind of hatred today. I won’t keep it up long. I just hope she knows she is loved and her song is great.”
Brown, who covered the song in 2011, deleted both posts and instead shared a clip from White Chicks, which features the song. He captioned the new post with, “I LOVE THIS SONG.”
We would have liked to see better from Carlton. Yes, Brown did what he did in 2009, but how can he grow and become a better man if SOME people continue to tear him down. He’s raising a daughter, and we can only perceive that he meant well when he posted about Carlton’s single. Not that we’re taking Brown’s side, we just want to lift everyone (men and women).
Happy International Women’s Day!
