Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Cheryl Fortune empowers women around the world with her powerful Gospel/Pop single, “Fighters.” In the clip, released back in April (2017), Cheryl breathes life into people who are optimistic about their future, insisting, “If I made it, you can make it too.” It’s a message of power, perseverance, and pride. It’s also a battle cry for anyone facing an arduous challenge to stand up to it and fight their way to victory.
“Fighters” will appear on Cheryl’s upcoming debut album, Simply Cheryl, which will arrive on Friday, October 13th. The ten-track set features feel-good, throwback songs with ’80s and ’90s R&B vibes, and will cover her life, love, and faith.
“This isn’t a gospel album,” she says. “It’s a feel-good project of affirmative Adult R&B music.”
Cheryl Fortune got her start as a songwriter, vocal arranger and session singer by working with Kirk Franklin and her ex-husband, James Fortune. Her songs have been recorded by Shirley Caesar, Zacardi Cortez, Monica, Fred Hammond and James Fortune & FIYA with whom she created three Billboard No. 1 hits.
