Veteran songwriter Prince Charlez steps into the spotlight with the brand new single, “Can I,” an intimate, mood setting gem.
“Cake so good / Taste so good, on the tip of my tongue,” Charlez declares on the steamy and raw introspective mid-tempo song. “…a little bit of love, it’s feeling like a drug taking me over.”
With Charlez’s pen experience, it seems getting women riled up sexually comes easy — it also helps that he has a finely-calibrated tone and emotionally-rich deliver.
“Can I” arrives following Charlez’s December 2016 debut Mixtape, Black And Gold, a project heralded by top producer Drumma Boy.
Charlez is an established Los Angeles based singer/songwriter, who came up in Compton, California during the gangster rap boom of the ’90s. He studied dance at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and began a modeling career in Milan before catching his first break as a songwriter when Red One asked him to write a song for Usher called “More.”
Charlez would later go on to write for other established artists such as Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Mary J. Blige, Ledisi, and Rihanna (“Needed Me” — the longest running hit of her career) among others.
