Mary J. Blige, Usher, Gladys Knight and many others have been tapped to christen the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington. D.C.
ABC announced yesterday (Sept 14) the line-up of stars who will perform for “Taking the Stage – Changing America,” a two-hour TV special to be filmed on Sept 23 at Washington’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Other stars to perform include Jamie Foxx, Christina Aguilera, NeYo, Common, Dave Grohl with go-go band Trouble Funk, Patti Austin, Gary Clark Jr., The Howard Gospel Choir, and The Alvin Ailey Dancers.
Dignitaries, athletes, and artists will attend “Taking the Stage,” which will highlight and celebrate African American contributions to the world. The special will air sometime during the 2016-2017 season on ABC. Quincy Jones is one of the executive-producers, along with Don Mischer.
