All aboard!
Legendary hip-hop group De La Soul enlists Usher on the hook of their new single “Greyhounds.”
The concept is a metaphor of a Greyhound bus ride as the vehicle to stardom, and Usher sings his part as the bus driver. “Next stop, NYC, take your seats please / I know exactly where you’re going,” he sings.
As Rap-Up reports, group member Posdnuos explained the song’s concept:
“We were taking a break from recording to drive and get some food. Along the way we passed the bus station and someone in the car in a tour guide voice said ‘and to the left is the bus station where people come from everywhere to get their piece of Hollywood.’ I immediately thought that would be a great song having the entry and departure point of the story be the Greyhound bus. A few weeks later music from the jam sessions presented itself as a perfect fit for that subject birthing the song.”
“Greyhounds” is the latest single off the hip-hop trio’s upcoming album, and the Anonymous Nobody due out on Aug 26.
