Following the tragic Orlando shooting last weekend, songstress Victoria Monet yearns for “Better Days” with the release of this soothing groove.
“I’d like to dedicate this song to the recent tragedies in Orlando, and to anyone going through hard times,” Monet captioned with the song. “Music has always helped me heal, so I’m hoping this song brings solace to some of our heavy hearts. I believe that we cannot fight hate with hate. Only love! Prayers up for Better Days.”
She sings of danger that seems to be surrounding our everyday lives, but sees a bright future despite the combat. “Baby there’s a war right outside out window / Don’t you hear the people fighting for their lives? / Baby there’s a war right outside out window, but it’s gonna be alright,” she opens the first verse with pretty, humbled vocals.
Last year she dropped her last project Nightmares & Lullabies: Act II EP, and she’s currently prepping her debut LP.
