The stars continue to honor the late Prince with impromptu song tributes.
Much like Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, and the cast of Broadway’s The Color Purple, Rihanna took the time out of her performance to dedicate a song to the late musician. During her April 21st stop in Calgary, Alberta, Canada during her ANTI World Tour. During her set, she dedicated her hit song “Diamonds” to Prince.
“Sad day to music lovers, musicians, fans all over the world,” she said, as fans held lighters and phones in the air. “We lost one of the greatest, a legend, Prince. We’ll miss you.” While standing in front of a purple screen with moving graphics, she acknowledged that she and many other artists got their inspiration from him.
“A lot of us started making music, listening to music because of Prince. So right now, I’m just gonna honor him…Let’s shine some light to him.”
