Rising singer Candace Boyd links up with R&B heavyweight Eric Bellinger for the oh-so-smooth grove “Just Chill.”
Produced by SoufWest, which samples Musiq Soulchild’s 2000 hit “Just Friends,” Boyd uses the same melody for her chorus; she doesn’t want relationship titles, rather just to be in the moment with her person of interest. However, as the song progresses, you’ll realize their chill sessions are secretive because they both have significant others.
“What the f*ck is a tile, what we need with a title, boy?” she opens the song. Bellinger isn’t up for the idea of telling their S/O’s that they “chill.” “Girl is you out your mind?/ Tell the doctor come check on my vitals / cause if your n*gga find out what we do when we are alone, he would be suicidal,” he replies on his verse.
Boyd is Ne-Yo’s protege and signed to his Compound U imprint. The previous single she had was called “Lesbian” from back in late 2014 which also featured Ne-Yo.
“Just Chill” follows her mixtape The Smokers Room.
