Mariah Carey is the newest star to document her life on the small screen!
According to Us Weekly, the diva is currently in the middle of filming a “docu-series” thanks to a deal negotiated by her manager Stella Bulochnikov that will film her life during her Las Vegas residency and her upcoming “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” European tour.
A source tells the magazine, “Mariah’s excited to show some personal family moments. It’ll definitely show another side to her.” Another insider says, “Her manager is a reality TV producer and got her the deal.” A third source says, “The show is also about Mariah and the crew around her. It’s nuts. Mariah is very funny on camera.”
I can see that: Mariah is definitely a character! Us Weekly reports that she’s already filmed her appearance at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Oscars Party on February 28th.
The publication says the working title for the show is “Mariah’s Squad.” No word on the air date or network. But while this all sounds interesting, this news doesn’t come without gossip of naysayers. According to Page Six, other members of her team aren’t happy with the reality show, comparing it to the disaster that was Being Bobby Brown and the damage that show did for Whitney Houston’s career.
A Carey insider told Page Six, “Someone of Mariah’s stature should not be doing this. Whitney Houston did a reality show and that was the real end of it. We hope that it doesn’t end up being like when Whitney did ‘Being Bobby Brown.”
The source says that MiMi’s manager Bulochnikov is also a reality show producer and doesn’t really care about Mariah’s image, and Mariah’s too engrossed in her engagement to billionaire James Packer to notice or care.
“Mariah’s amazing and treats people with the utmost respect and kindness and Stella is the total opposite,” she source allegedly says. “She comes from producing reality TV and calls herself the Russian dictator. I guess Mariah is just in love and not paying attention to what’s happening around her.”
This will be interesting…
