Ohio indie artist Michael Allen drops his sentimental ballad “I’ll Be (There For You),” an ode to extending one’s hand of love to someone who’s been hurt before.
“Girl you’re not in this alone, cuz baby I’m right here / I’m just a phone call away from saving you,” he sings on the first verse.
Allen grew up pretending to be a preacher in a pulpit, to mocking the latest hit on the radio, poised to be an entertainer. One of his biggest inspirations is R. Kelly because of his range. “It’s the way R. Kelly had no creative boundary. The way he could take you on a spiritual journey or a sexual escapade, it was all magic to me” says Michael.
Since 2011, Michael has placed his works on an award winning web series from his 2012 independent mixtape LostTapes:MixTapes, landed a lead role as detective in an indie film, and recorded multiple features with artist throughout the nation and abroad.
