Zendaya has been teasing her new Timbaland-produced single, “Close Up,” on social media for weeks. Now, we have more of the song along with an edgy video, which acts as an ad for Vivienne Westwood's Fall/Winter 2015 and couture collections.
The collab is the perfect fit, as Zendaya’s model-looks and music accentuate Westwood’s collection, getting youthful co-sign (FYI, Pharrell’s signature huge hat is a Vivienne Westwood creation). The clip features Z as she strikes some fierce poses in the clothing as she declares she’s “ready for her close up,” on the song, which is attached to her upcoming sophomore album, #Z2, due out in 2016.
It’s evident Z is adamant about shedding her Disney past with this sensual song. “This new album is kind of me talking about stuff that at this point I finally understand, and have been through and can speak about. It’s not super deep; it’s all around the ideas of love. Dealing with love for the first time and what that means to me has been a big part of the album,” she told PopCrush.
Along with Timbaland, she’s also working with Babyface and Diane Warren on the LP.
