For a long time, Bobby Brown was blamed for getting the late Whitney Houston hooked on drugs. But lately (whether through the Lifetime movie Whitney or the late icon’s older brother Michael admitting he introduced her to drugs), it’s been made aware to the public that Whitney may have been abusing drugs long before Bobby showed up.
However, in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, her mother Cissy Houston blames the industry and Bobby Brown for her daughter’s missteps.
“This business is really bad, you know what I’m saying?” she said. “But she did the best she could.
“My baby tried. She did. She just had the wrong partner, you know?” Cissy said about Brown. “Whitney was a very soft and easy person. … She was kind. She was free-hearted. All of that, and sometimes people didn’t treat her nice.”
Could Mrs. Houston’s unwillingness to see Whitney’s imperfections be because she favorited her over her other children, Gary and Michael? Perhaps. She admits she never wanted sons.
“She’s my baby,” Houston said of Whitney. “I had two boys before her and I never wanted boys. I love them. They know I love them. But I always wanted a daughter.”
